THE SEA OF GALILEE

From the September 1940 issue of The Christian Science Journal

A little silver sea still shines
In sunny Galilee,
Upon its waves the sunbeams dance
Forever joyously.

It mirrors skies of brightest blue,
And when the sun dips low,
The hues of blossoms—rose and gold—
Upon its surface glow.

The stars look down so tenderly,
And each one finds its gold
Reflected in the peaceful depths
As in the days of old.

When on its waters, Love upheld,
Our Master's footsteps trod,
And by its waves he gave the peace
And healing love of God.

The centuries seem to fall away,
As we look back to thee,
And we are with our Master dear,
In happy Galilee.

And oh, what joy it is to know
Love's presence he revealed
Enfolds us now in tenderness,
And is our guide and shield!
