I wish to express my sincere gratitude for Christian Science. Before I was led to this beautiful religion I was a sincere believer in the omnipotence of God. However, not having a correct understanding of Him, and of man as His image and likeness, I was held in bondage to a multitude of erroneous beliefs.
When our second daughter was born, the tear duct of her right eye failed to open, thereby affording no means of taking care of any excretion. Not being a student of Christian Science at the time. I accepted the advice of friends and relatives to wait until the child became two years of age rather than submit to an operation. The thought was expressed that this condition would right itself within this length of time. When the child's second birthday came, the eye had shown no improvement. At this time I was obliged to be away from home, and during my absence a loved one unintentionally left on a shelf a number of copies of the Christian Science Sentinel. Upon my return I noticed them, and picked one up to read. After reading a few of the testimonies, I suggested to my husband that we try Christian Science, feeling confident that it could do no harm, even if it did no good. We were beautifully led to a practitioner, who, after listening to my story, allayed my fear immediately by making it very clear that God is good and knows no evil. In two treatments the eye was completely healed.
I purchased the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and read every spare moment. My eyes had been opened, and I rejoiced in this beautiful Science. Bible passages of which I had been very fond became illumined, and their full spiritual significance was revealed. I gained better health; strength which I had thought I lacked returned; and I experienced a greater sense of peace and harmony.
