"LET THERE BE LIGHT"

From the August 1941 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Thought the light that Christian Science has thrown upon the Scriptures, seekers for Truth, those striving to work out their human problems in the way of God's appointing, are demonstrating as never before a fuller measure of health, happiness, harmony, and abundance. God's command, "Let there be light," may be taken as the basis of our prayer, which covers every human need. God's kingdom is complete, perfect, eternal, here and now. Nothing can ever be added to this kingdom, nothing can ever be taken away from it. Earthly kingdoms of great power fade from the scene, and their works crumble into dust and are forgotten; but the kingdom of eternal Love goes on forever.

Man, the real and only man of God's creation, stands now and forever as the complete expression of all that is good. God cannot do more for man than He has already done. Understanding this, Christ Jesus said, "Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom." This kingdom is true and present now.

Does someone seem to lack the things necessary in human experience? He needs but the light of spiritual understanding to reveal to him the wonderful things God bestows in abundance, which, for the time, may seem hidden in the mists and confusion of false thinking. And how is one to possess the light of spiritual understanding? Gratitude to God for the good he already has realized, however inadequate it may seem to be, will assist greatly. And again comes the promise of God through Isaiah, "If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land."
