A realization of the fact that "man's extremity is God's opportunity" was mine in November, 1912. I was taken with nervous prostration in its worst form, due to overwork, and was given up by the physician, who told my parents I could not live twenty-four hours. I was taken home, apparently to pass on. That evening, when it seemed as though I had reached the end of my experience here, I was asked if I should like to try Christian Science. I consented, and a Christian Science practitioner was called by telephone, for we lived in the country. The practitioner gave an absent treatment, and I received help at once. By the next morning I was completely healed.
I also had a chronic stomach disorder, and had been told I could never be healed; but this healing also took place at the same time.
One can imagine my joy and gratitude to God at finding myself free, well, and strong. I returned to work in two weeks, my parents feeling that rest was needed for that period. One day I met the physician who had attended me. He was very much surprised upon seeing me and asked what I had done. I told him Christian Science had healed me. He then said, "If Christian Science has healed you, stick to it, for nothing in the medical world could have helped you."
