He who is kind gives only in order that he may rejoice in another's gain. Herein lies his immediate reward, the satisfaction he sees expressed by the recipient. But the giver will receive more than this. There is a law which sees to it that all deeds of kindliness are repaid. It is a spiritual law, that which returns the bread cast upon the waters. Jesus of Nazareth spoke of the payment which comes to those who are kind to their fellows when he counseled: "Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again."—Selected.
