GRATEFUL PRAYER

From the February 1944 issue of The Christian Science Journal

God is over all!
Because I know His presence near,
I feel secure, devoid of fear;
I lift my thought in grateful prayer,
Since finding God is everywhere.

I need not pray for love or life,
For God to conquer sin or strife,
For Him to compass land and sea;
He has revealed Himself to me.

My prayer is quietly to know
That from my Father blessings flow
Unceasingly, and at my side
The Christ appears, my steps to guide,

As Jesus walked upon the sea,
To quiet the timidity
And fear of those who did not feel
The Master's presence, near and real.

Dear God, how safe and sure the way
For him who, prayerful, starts each day
Acknowledging the good at hand,
And lets the Father take command
God is over all!
