I think that Jesus must have taught
With artist skill, in Galilee,
And many were the ones who sought
The secret of his artistry.
I think he saw within each child
The eager, reaching mind and heart;
I think his love, so patient, mild,
Inspired hopes and deeds to start.
I think he made it seem quite plain
That ships, and nets beside the sea,
Were little loss against the gain
Of Truth that set a bound mind free.
I think he talked of simple things,
The reign of love, the end of strife;
His stories bore on healing wings
The gift of more abundant life.
I think that Jesus must have taught
With artist skill, in Galilee.
We, too, can share with those who caught
The secret of his artistry!
