Although I had the blessings of a few years' experience in the Christian Science Sunday School, it was not until almost twelve years later that the seed sown there began to bear fruit. I turned wholeheartedly to the study of Christian Science after I had been healed through it of an unsightly skin disease that covered my whole face. The practitioner and I worked together to clear my thought of many false beliefs. The healing took about a month, but a firm foundation was laid.
During that time I had an instantaneous healing of blood poisoning. I had carelessly pushed a setting hen from her nest and she had pecked my hand. Nothing was thought of it, but during the night I awakened with a severe pain in my arm. By morning the arm was practically useless, and my husband was very fearful. Since he was in the Army we had the privilege of free medical care, and he asked me if I wanted him to take me to the station hospital. Instantly I realized that the suggestion to accept free medical care was from the tempter. I asked my husband to get the car out for me, and in spite of the condition of the arm I drove to the home of a Christian Science practitioner, where I stayed about an hour.
When I left, all fear had vanished, and on arriving home I was free from pain. The next day there was no evidence whatsoever of blood poisoning. In a few days the skin difficulty completely vanished. Friends who had seen it had expressed much concern, fearing that my face would be marred and that the children would contract the trouble. Since that time there have been many healings through this wonderful truth.
