THE VALLEY OF ACHOR

From the January 1945 issue of The Christian Science Journal

All day I wandered in the valley,
The valley of Achor, full of trouble, dark and drear;
Until at eve
Wearily I climbed the mountain, looking for the view,
But disappointed found
Only the clouds about me.
Sadly I cried, "O God, I cannot see."
When straight the message came,
"But Thou, God, seest me."

With that the clouds rolled back, and all the vale
I saw was dark no longer,
But bathed in sunshine, filled with flocks and herds.
The door of hope was opened wide before me,
And joyfully I realized
That God saw me as His beloved child,
And, thanking Him, was satisfied,
And singing went upon my way.
