Testimonies of Healing

While in the yard picking roses, two...

From the June 1945 issue of The Christian Science Journal

While in the yard picking roses, two years ago, I fell and broke my arm. Thinking it was only a bad sprain, I tried to know the truth about it as we are taught in Christian Science. However, the pain was so severe I called a practitioner for help, which was lovingly given, and which resulted in immediate relief.

When several weeks had elapsed and I was not able to use the arm. I was advised to have an X ray taken to see if it was broken. This I did, but very reluctantly. I saw the picture, and the arm was broken in two places. On top of the arm the bone had already commenced to knit, and on the other side it looked as though a "V" had been taken out of the bone. Four physicians told me that unless I had the arm broken over, I should have a very crooked arm. As the bone had knitted improperly, they said I should never be able to use my arm much, and that it would be necessary for me to learn to eat and do things with my left hand.

I knew that this verdict was only a mortal mind suggestion and not the law of God. Therefore I promptly denied all the suggestions, and told the physicians I would not consent to have the arm broken again. One of the doctors asked me how many nights' sleep I had lost over it, and I could truthfully tell him that I had not lost one whole night's sleep; also, that I had been able to do my housework, for I was living alone at the time of the accident.
