Poems

THE SAME YESTERDAY, TODAY, AND FOREVER

From the June 1945 issue of The Christian Science Journal

O Love divine that blessed us in the past,
And here today sustains, protects, and leads,
Why should we ever doubt, or even ask
If the All-knowing meets tomorrow's needs?

Why do we dread the thought, "I am alone"?

None is alone, for Love is all around.
Love, the unchanging, careth for His own;
In God's encircling love man's home is found.

To fear the path our feet have not yet trod
Denies God's presence now and yesterday;
If truly grateful for eternal good
We gladly, humbly, trustingly obey.

Complete in Him who is the only power,
Our perfect self reveals God's perfect plan.
No change or chance can mar the future hour;
The eternal now reveals the whole of man.
