In 1905, relatives of my husband, who were ardent Christian Scientists, mentioned the healing efficacy of Science and said that all disease could be healed. My husband became interested enough to read "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and to have treatment. The healing and regeneration were so marked that instantly I could see that the book was of God.
I began to attend church, and I recall clearly two outstanding testimonies I heard on a Wednesday evening. A woman told of a healing of cancer on her face. This woman was a friend of one of my aunts, and later I was introduced to her. That same night a gentleman told of his healing of locomotor ataxia. I was deeply interested and never doubted that the healing truth to which they bore witness was the Christ, Truth, demonstrated by Jesus while he was on earth.
Shortly after this I began to prove in what then seemed small ways the power of Christian Science to heal. Toothache, colds, et cetera were overcome. I recall clearly that I memorized the Lord's Prayer and its spiritual interpretation given by Mrs. Eddy on pages 16 and 17of Science and Health, also "the scientific statement of being," on page 468, and I gleaned something of their spiritual import, thereby making it possible to help members of my family.
