It is with a heart filled with joy and gratitude to God for the Bible, Christ Jesus, our Way-shower, and our dear Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, that I give this testimony.
Over half a century ago my mother was instantaneously healed of a discordant condition which no physician had been able to heal in years of trying. She had never been well as a child and was unable to go to school. Upon reaching womanhood she improved somewhat, but after the birth of her first child the doctors said she would be an invalid for the rest of her life. It was twenty years later that she was healed in Christian Science, and she enjoyed excellent health for the remainder of her life.
A few years after her healing, I was stricken with a very serious stomach trouble. The siege lasted for about four months, during which time my father insisted that I have medical help, but it was of no avail. I was near to passing on when my uncle, a physician, urged my father to try Christian Science. A practitioner, the one who had healed my mother, and the first to come to Des Moines, was called. My healing came about very quickly. This was sixty years ago, and I have never had a return of the condition. It was a wonderful evidence of the healing power of Truth. After that we tried to live and practice Christian Science, regardless of the ridicule we received in our community. Christian Science was little known in the West at that time.
