Christian Science is the greatest blessing in my life. Having always enjoyed good health, I did not seek Truth for physical healing. But now, more than ever, I know that health is manifested through joy and harmony. Therefore health is a gift of God.
In "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" Mary Baker Eddy writes (p. 373): "Establish the scientific sense of health, and you relieve the oppressed organ. The inflammation, decomposition, or deposit will abate, and the disabled organ will resume its healthy functions."
I was forced to prove the above statement of our Leader's when I awakened one morning with a distorted countenance. One eye was closed, the mouth was drawn to one side, and there was intense pain in the head. Mortal mind presented many arguments regarding cause and effect, paralysis, and other false beliefs, but when these arguments wore themselves out, and cause was again seen to be God, and every effect a good and perfect expression of God, relief was experienced. God's love and presence flooded my consciousness, and in Scriptural language I was able to say (I Pet. 4:12, 13), "Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: but rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings."
