GIFTS

From the November 1946 issue of The Christian Science Journal

IN James (1:17) we read, "Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning." Let us consider a few of these divine gifts that come from the great Giver. God's free gifts and endowments are as innumerable as the sands of the sea. They are perfect in their nature, infinite in number, and eternal in duration. Divine Love is a munificent benefactor, and is not separate from its bestowals.

The Saviour, Christ Jesus, was in a sense a living gift sent from God to reveal to men the meaning of life, that "they might have it more abundantly." Jesus came to prove the allness of God and the nothingness of matter.

The Bible, another gift of God, is the assembling of the clearest spiritual truth that has appeared to men in the history of the human race, but it must be spiritually interpreted. That great religious Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, has given to the world, through God's inspiration, this true and spiritual interpretation and revelation of scientific truth in her textbook of Christian Science, which she named "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures." Those who study, in the degree that they assimilate, obey, and understand its contents, are enriched, and enabled to overcome their trials and solve their problems.
