I have received much encouragement...

From the November 1946 issue of The Christian Science Journal

I have received much encouragement and help over a period of many years from the testimonies in our periodicals. I should like to submit the following few experiences from the many I have had in Christian Science.

In 1905, a wagon wheel went over my hand badly injuring two of my fingers, and it looked as though I should lose them. My family was not interested in Christian Science, but was willing that I go to my grandmother, who was an earnest student of this Science, for treatment. I did this, and my hand became completely normal again. In 1915, I needed help for a serious stomach and bowel trouble, and was again healed through the spiritual understanding of my grandmother.

Mrs. Eddy tells us on page 424 of the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health, "Accidents are unknown to God, or immortal Mind, and we must leave the mortal basis of belief and unite with the one Mind, in order to change the notion of chance to the proper sense of God's unerring direction and thus bring out harmony." The application of this truth has protected me during more than twenty years of driving a car. The understanding of God's presence has proved more powerful than all else.
