Testimonies of Healing

What blessings and inspiration await...

From the March 1946 issue of The Christian Science Journal

What blessings and inspiration await all who avail themselves of the teachings of Christian Science! I never cease to marvel that one woman could bring so much good to so many men in many different parts of the world. Whenever I become overpowered by discouragement or so troubled that I do not know where to turn, I have learned to turn to the "Testimonies of Healing" published in the Journal and Sentinel. I soon find that thought wells with gratitude for these beautiful proofs of God's loving care. Then, when this renewed inspiration has come to me, my healing has never been far away.

In our immediate family there have been beautiful proofs of the certainty of God's law in healings of appendicitis after X-ray pictures revealed that an immediate operation was necessary, of mumps, sties, scarlet fever, and colds. Diphtheria was instantaneously healed, and measles disappeared in half an hour.

About three years ago, while using an electric stove, two of my fingers came in direct contact with a red-hot burner. The end of one of the fingers stuck to the burner with what appeared to be alarming results. I was not at all frightened, for a number of years ago one of my fingers had been seriously injured, but was entirely healed through the application of Christian Science. Although the end of the finger had been cut off, a whole new finger end with a perfect nail grew again without scar or imperfection. This healing, which was reported in the Sentinel of February 16, 1935, proved to me conclusively what our Leader tells us on page 489 of our textbook: "The less mind there is manifested in matter the better. When the unthinking lobster loses its claw, the claw grows again. If the Science of Life were understood, it would be found that the senses of Mind are never lost and that matter has no sensation. Then the human limb would be replaced as readily as the lobster's claw,—not with an artificial limb, but with the genuine one."
