There is no more uplifting experience than that of quiet meditation on the love of God. Everyone knows something of love in its human interpretation, and there are few who have not enjoyed the sweetness of companionship, the love and care of human parentage, the trustful relationship of brother or sister, the devotion of a loved friend. These relationships are indeed sacred to us, and the happiness they bring is inestimable. Yet, though earthly joys may hint of the perfect, enduring, and real, they do not begin to show forth the joys which flow from divine Love, the basis and source of all blessings.
The one Love which is God fills immensity. It knows no bounds, no frontiers, no restrictions, no limitations. It is all-embracing, infinite. There is no place where Love does not express itself. Therefore there is no crucial mortal experience that Love cannot reach, no heartache that Love cannot lighten, no burden it will not lift when its omnipresence and irresistible power are realized. How imperative then it is that we should become acquainted with divine Love! How vital it is that we should recognize ourselves as in reality the reflection of Love! How desirable to realize its unfailing presence in all our experiences!
We may at some time have asked ourselves, Is Love something apart from man? Does Love dwell in solitude in a far-off heaven? Perhaps we may have prayed to God as to a distant deity, asking that in some way we might feel and benefit by His power. Perhaps we have felt separated from divine Love, submerged under a false state of consciousness, tempted to accept the carnal version of thought, character, body.
