Testimonies of Healing

I should like to tell of two experiences...

From the June 1946 issue of The Christian Science Journal

I Should like to tell of two experiences in which heartfelt, spontaneous gratitude resulted in healing.

Soon after reaching young manhood I started a business. Careful consideration was given to certain fundamental propositions. Was this business needed? Could we produce a better product and make it more readily available to those who could use it? When I had assured myself that our service and product were needed, the necessary capital was soon available, machinery was purchased, a building was secured, and operations were commenced.

But within a very few months litigation ensued between our lessor and the owner of the building we occupied, and we were made party to the lawsuit. We were forced to move, but could find only temporary quarters. This necessitated a second move. Both were costly and resulted in an unexpected drain upon our limited capital. Our customers lost confidence in us, orders were canceled, losses ensued, and our capital became exhausted. It seemed that only failure, with heavy indebtedness and no means to pay, could result.
