TRUE IDENTITY REFLECTS GOD

From the June 1946 issue of The Christian Science Journal

It is often necessary to prove one's identity in order to carry out the simplest transactions in everyday experience. The correct receipt enables its possessor promptly to obtain checked merchandise or luggage or to secure his car from the parking lot. Our signature, or other approved means, serves to identify us when we are cashing a check, or allows us to open our safety deposit box. Great care is thus exercised to protect personal property and other valuables.

How much more important it is to learn how to maintain one's true spiritual sense of identity! Then, when fear, anger, or other impositions of error seek admittance into consciousness, one can quickly identify himself as, in reality, the child of God and close his mental doors to such suggestions! They do not belong to man, because they are not of God.

In the light of Christian Science, great joy is experienced when one realizes that his real identity is the perfect expression of God, and that he is not a limited finite mortal. As the reflection of a beautiful rose in a mirror gives back its radiant beauty, so man is God's witness to perfection, imaging forth all the glories of infinite Mind.
