Whenever I get a new Journal or Sentinel I turn at once to the testimonies of healing, for they bear grateful witness to the fact that Christian Science heals all manner of diseases in all parts of the globe.
Now the time has come for me to express my own gratitude, as far as I can in words. When I first heard of Christian Science I could not understand it at all. I was so immersed in materia medica, having been a nurse for many years, that I did not pursue Science, though spasmodically I read the textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. The time came, however, about twelve years later, when I was led to look into it seriously, and the occasion was as follows.
I had been discharged from a hospital where I had had much treatment for a serious form of heart complaint. The doctor who attended me after my return home told me he could do no more for me. In the words of the Psalmist I could say, "My tears have been my meat day and night." Then one day I heard these words, as if a voice spoke: "Arise and go." I replied, "God help me, where and how can I go?" My husband entered the room at that moment and I said to him without hesitation, "I'd like to go to the Christian Science church in the next town." There was not one in the town in which we were then living.
