I have been helped so often by reading testimonies in our periodicals that it is my prayer that my testimony may lighten the way of some seeker for Truth and bring a measure of that peace "which passeth all understanding."
I should like to tell of a healing I had many years ago. I had been in the hospital twice for operations which proved unsuccessful, and I was quite despondent. I was like the woman spoken of in the Bible (Matt. 9:20) who was diseased with an issue of blood. Not knowing what else to do, I was returning to the hospital for the third time when the janitor of the building in which I lived asked me why I did not try Christian Science. I secured the name of a practitioner and called on her the same afternoon. It was a wonderful visit. I shall never forget the peace that came over me while she was explaining the truth about man's relationship to God. She gave me a treatment and some literature. I read and prayed that God would help me to understand. He did, and in less than one week I was healed and returned to my work.
I am so grateful that I have found the way, and my constant prayer is that I may obey Jesus' command (Matt. 5:16), "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven." During these years I have experienced many other healings, including the healing of pleurisy, influenza, and the smoking habit. I have learned a great many lessons from these experiences. Faults of character, such as false pride, self-pity, and faultfinding, have fallen away.
