I have been so greatly blessed by Christian Science that I am ashamed that this is my first public testimony of gratitude.
I have known of Science almost all my life, because members of my family were interested in it. However, I did not begin to study it myself until I had graduated from college and encountered problems with which I could not cope alone. The first outstanding healing I recall was of a very bad cold, accompanied by a gathering in the face. I remember that I was walking the floor in pain, tears running down my face. My mother called a practitioner, and within a matter of minutes I went back to bed and to sleep. I slept through the night undisturbed. The next morning there was no sign of the cold or gathering except that the skin on my nose was a little dry and peeling. I took a long bus trip that morning and enjoyed a week's reunion at my alma mater, taking part in all activities. Other physical healings in my experience have also demonstrated the ability of Christian Science to cure physical ills.
I am grateful that Christian Science healed me of the habits of smoking and social drinking. The smoking habit was one of several years' standing. I am also grateful for help in personal relations, and for a greater understanding of real love and companionship which came as a result of the help of a practitioner and of my own work.
