DAILY STUDY BRINGS DAILY BLESSINGS

[Of Special Interest to Young People]

From the August 1947 issue of The Christian Science Journal

In April, 1895, Mary Baker Eddy ordained the Bible and "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" as the only Pastor of the Church of Christ, Scientist. It is worthy of note that in the Manual of The Mother Church our Leader writes under "Moral Obligations" (Art. III, Sect. 1), "The Readers of The Mother Church and of all its branch churches must devote a suitable portion of their time to preparation for the reading of the Sunday lesson,—a lesson on which the prosperity of Christian Science largely depends."

Would it not be wise for us who are students of Christian Science to accept the moral obligation to read and study daily the Lesson-Sermon in preparation for hearing it read in our churches on Sunday? When we do this, not only do we receive a blessing ourselves, but we are better prepared to have our share in blessing all mankind.

As we study the Lesson each morning, we are constantly finding gems of Truth and Love which will always be available for use whenever we need them, whether for our own enrichment or that of our brother man. Our Leader says (Science and Health, p. 68), "Christian Science presents unfoldment, not accretion." This unfoldment is a gradual process and is greatly helped by our faithful daily study of the Lesson-Sermon.
