The first instantaneous healing experienced by a student of Christian Science through the application of this Science is a sacred experience indeed. Not alone is he grateful for the physical easement, but the healing often represents to him a monumental event in his spiritual progress. By it he usually discerns more clearly the practicality of the Science of Christian healing, and the truth and potency of its wonderful teaching concerning man's true relationship to God as His expression. And, conversely, materiality takes on a measure of unreality which he has heretofore been unable to appreciate. His concept of God and the power of His Word becomes less vague, and God is more fully recognized by him as a practical, ever-available help.
In a broader sense, every Christian Science healing of sin and disease is instantaneous, for as soon as a lie is fully recognized to be a lie, it is at once and permanently destroyed. What seems to take time is for us to attain the ability and willingness to relinquish a false sense of pleasure or suffering in matter, and to grasp the truths of Spirit. This accounts for the fact that we sometimes fail to receive a quick healing.

When we correctly apply to our problems these teachings, based on the ever-operative laws of God, omnipotent good, the problems must disappear. The demonstration of Christian Science includes not blind but intelligent acceptance of its positive, absolute, and eternal truths about God and man, and a correspondingly definite refutation of evil, or error, with all its misstatements.
