Notices

From the April 1948 issue of The Christian Science Journal

NOTICE

[As published in the Christian Science Sentinel, March 6, 1948]

Among the reports read at the Annual Meeting of The Mother Church in June, as called for by Article XIII, Section 1, of the Church Manual, are included "general reports from the Field." These "general reports" are based on letters received from the branches of The Mother Church, telling of their activities and special steps of progress during the past year. Excerpts are read from as many such letters as the time allotted to this part of the program permits.

In order that the reports sent in by the churches and societies throughout the Field may be considered for possible use at the Annual Meeting to be held on June 7 this year, it will be helpful if they may be in the office of The Christian Science Board of Directors not later than May 1 .

NOTES FROM THE PUBLISHING SOCIETY

New Pamphlets

Two valuable new pamphlets are now available. These pamphlets contain reprints of articles from The Christian Science Journal and Sentinel. One pamphlet has been especially compiled for children and is called "A Pamphlet for Small Boys and Girls." The second contains articles relating to class teaching and associations and is called "Christian Science Students' Associations and Other Articles." Price 10 cents each.

CHURCH MEMBERSHIP AND INDIVIDUAL PROGRESS

The following statement came to us from one of our new members: "Experiences have proved overwhelmingly to me the vital part that membership in The Mother Church plays in an individual's progress from sense to Soul!"

This member evidently realized that affiliation with The Mother Church is one of the footsteps referred to on page 253 (lines 32-2) of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy: "The divine demand, 'Be ye therefore perfect,' is scientific, and the human footsteps leading to perfection are indispensable."

Twice each year applicants are admitted to membership by The Christian Science Board of Directors (see Manual, Art. XIII, Sect. 2). Applications to be considered for the next admission must reach the Clerk not later than April 26, 1948. The admission date is June 4, 1948. If those who wish to take this step will forward their applications as early as possible, rather than wait until near the closing date, it will greatly facilitate the work in the Clerk's office. Approvers are responsible for the accuracy of the applications and for securing the necessary countersignatures. An Instruction Folder which explains simply and thoroughly all that is required in applying for membership accompanies each application. Please give special attention to the paragraph on page 2 of this Folder entitled "Form 2."

Application blanks for membership in The Mother Church may be obtained from practitioners listed in The Christian Science Journal, from clerks of branch churches and societies, or at Christian Science Reading Rooms. Applications may also be obtained from Gordon V. Comer, Clerk, 107 Falmouth Street, Boston 15, Massachusetts.
