This testimony of my healing many years ago by Christian Science should have been shared before now. Previous to my acquaintance with Christian Science or Christian Scientists, I had been studying my Bible and praying for understanding and assurance of its truthfulness. At that time I had gone to visit a new friend, and when I asked for some medicine, she offered Christian Science to me. Through courtesy only, I began to read Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. I read on page 1 "The prayer that reforms the sinner and heals the sick is an absolute faith that all things are possible to God,—a spiritual understanding of Him, an unselfed love." This statement with others on the same page so impressed me that I felt I had found the pearl of great price.
I read on and on, drinking in the sacred truths, until in about an hour dinner was served. I went to the table with the remark that now I was free to eat like any normal person and without fear of suffering. I did eat in peace and harmony, for my stomach was healed. I believe the case was called a severe form of dyspepsia. The healing was permanent. My prayer was answered, and I had a comforting, assuring staff forever.
Another Christian Science healing came to me of later years. It was that of a dislocated and broken elbow, when the doctor was unable to set the joint. A Christian Science practitioner was faithfully realizing the truth about the situation, and I felt the bones move. The doctor pulled the broken bone into place and bound the arm. When the bandage was removed, the arm was stiff. Through this part of the experience many grand lessons were learned. In about a month the arm was absolutely normal; no exercises had been used. The healing was permanent.
