At Wednesday testimony meetings in Churches of Christ, Scientist, we often hear gratitude expressed in these words: "I found a refuge in Christian Science," or, "I turned away from the discordant sense and read the Bible and 'Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures' by Mary Baker Eddy, textbooks of Christian Science; there I found a haven and healing."
In the time of Noah, when disaster threatened the earth, the patriarch was guided by God to build an ark. As related in Genesis, he was to build it of gopher wood, pitched within and without. The dimensions and the plan, including the position of a window and of the door, were clearly revealed to Noah and carefully followed by him. When the ark was completed, he took into it his family and also animals, fowl, and "of every living thing . . ., two of every sort."
In discovering and founding Christian Science, is not our Leader like the Noah of olden times, and is not Christian Science today our ark? How faithful and obedient to divine direction was Mrs. Eddy in laying the foundation and building this globe-encircling Science. She wrote the textbook, Science and Health, which is proving its efficacy to lift mankind above the flood of woes of sin, sickness, and death. She established her Church to protect and promote Christian Science and provided in the Manual of The Mother Church for the continued teaching of this truth. The Lesson-Sermons in the Christian Science Quarterly, the periodicals, the lectures—every part of the building of this ark was done under divine direction and wholly through demonstration.
