Poems

Preparation

From the March 1950 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Serene the early morning hour,
Calm with the strength of hidden power.
All sense of yesterday grows dim,
Tomorrow ever rests with Him,
But now at dawn profound, deep peace
Enfolds this promise: Love's increase.

Thought lifts with ease.
As birds that rise
And soaring sing
in cloudless skies,
I leave all thoughts
of earth behind
To breathe the atmosphere
of Mind.

Humbly, silently, I pray
To be at one with God this day.
Then consecration, gratitude,
Faith and confidence renewed,
My overflowing spirit soars
Prepared to open prison doors,
To bring the brokenhearted peace,
In readiness for Love's increase.
