The simple dignity and grandeur of...

From the March 1950 issue of The Christian Science Journal

The simple dignity and grandeur of Christian Science Sunday services and Wednesday testimony meetings have always been an inspiration to me in many trials. Therefore I am grateful to be able to testify to the efficacy of Christian Science.

For thirty-nine years this Science has met my every need. One of my most outstanding healings was of cancer, when I appeared to be passing on. I was also healed of a broken hip caused by a fall downstairs and of broken ribs resulting from a fall when my horse stumbled. My hip was healed in four weeks, and my ribs were healed in three weeks, through Christian Science alone, proving to me that time is no part of God's plan for His children.

While I am deeply grateful for these healings and many others, today I am far more grateful for the healing and uncovering of an unsuspected sense of self-will, which caused me to subject my family and myself to a great sense of misplacement. On page 206 of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, we read, "Will-power is capable of all evil," and I learned this to my cost.
