Testimonies of Healing

For a number of years I worked in Christian Science...

From the April 1950 issue of The Christian Science Journal

For a number of years I worked in Christian Science to overcome asthma. Practitioners worked faithfully for me, but there seemed to be no permanent improvement. At times I was tempted to accept the argument that mine was a hopeless case. I knew that Science healed, but I wondered if an ailment which had resisted for so long a time the good work that had been done, would ever yield. When discouragement knocked at the door of my consciousness, as it often did, these words from one of the hymns in the Christian Science Hymnal (No. 265) also came to my thought: "O, for their sake, press thou on." With the help of consecrated practitioners I did press on, and now I know that Christian Science does heal a discordant condition which has persisted over a long period of time. The nightmare of asthma disappeared from my experience completely.

Through the understanding that has come to me from the study of Christian Science and the faithful work of practitioners I have been able to lay aside glasses. I saw clearly that the calendar, recording the passing of weeks, months, years, had no power to impair vision, perception, comprehension, understanding—faculties of Mind. Then I realized that I was not using the glasses.

I want to express my gratitude for Christian Science and for the practitioners who give so generously of their time and understanding to those who call upon them in times of need. I am grateful too for all of the Christian Science literature, to which we can turn for courage and inspiration.— , .
