I wish to express my gratitude for the blessings which have come to me through the study of Christian Science. Influenza, colds, tonsillitis, burns, and fear are only a few of the discordant conditions which have faded into nothingness. I was wonderfully protected during a time when I lived where there were no Christian Scientists and no practitioners.
As a child I was subject to tonsillitis, but later I seemed to outgrow it. After I had been studying Christian Science for several years, however, I had a very severe attack. I was unable to call a practitioner, but I read the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, almost day and night for about thirty-six hours. Then the. pain and fever left me, and I was entirely healed. I have never since had a trace of this ailment.
One morning I wakened feeling so ill that I hardly dared move, and the fear was intense. My copy of Science and Health was on a chair near my bed, and I managed to reach it. It seemed to open of itself to the following passage (p. 406): "'The leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.' Sin and sickness are both healed by the same Principle. The tree is typical of man's divine Principle, which is equal to every emergency, offering full salvation from sin, sickness, and death."
