There has been much unfoldment of the truth in my life through my reading the testimonies in the periodicals. They have often met my need, and I trust my testimony will help someone else.
In September, 1941, I found Christian Science. In January of that year I slipped on some ice in the street, falling with great force. I was taken to the hospital, and X rays were taken. Although the doctor reported that there were no fractures, he was unable to account for the fact that I had no sense of feeling in my legs below the knees or in my feet. I was confined to bed for some weeks. During these weeks I read my Bible constantly, although I did not understand it, and I prayed to God that I might be given understanding.
When I was permitted to get up and try to walk, I had to fold my arms behind my back and hold tight to remain upright. I could not walk normally and had no feeling that my feet were on the floor. Nothing further was done for me at the hospital, and in March the doctor agreed that I be moved some ninety miles to another state, where I could have more expert medical care. There more X rays were taken, and doctors discovered that a vertebra had been destroyed by the fall. After months of pain and consultations of doctors and tests of all kinds, I was released from the hospital in August, very much crippled.
