Christian Science was introduced to...

From the December 1951 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Christian Science was introduced to me at a period in my life when, although I was quite young, I thought there was nothing worth living for. Our family was broken up, and due to the depression years it seemed impossible for me to obtain gainful employment. I was seriously considering making things final. I shall never cease to be grateful to the person who, sensing my disposition, had the courage to tell me about Christian Science, although she herself had not studied it very long and, of course, did not know if I would be receptive to it.

The first Christian Science Wednesday testimony meeting I attended was like an open door showing me a completely new world. The following day I borrowed the textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, from the Reading Room, and I read the book day and night. I was in Sweden at the time. My English was very poor, but in spite of this obstacle I persevered and gained something invaluable all the while.

My material conditions gradually started to improve, as did my looks. Those who knew me wondered what had taken place. I could only refer them to the Christian Science textbook. Although there have been difficult periods since, I have never again experienced such a state of darkness. My blessings have been many, and I have been provided for far above anything that I had ever dreamed.
