When—
as the shepherds watched their flocks by night,
we watch our thoughts,
say nay to sin, disease, and want,
and yea to love that soars above
all discord, pain, and fear, to light,
then—
the star that leads our way is bright.
Assured God's plan for all is good,
in peace and joy we dwell apart.
Nor can a dearth of peace on earth
mar Christmas in the heart.
