Testimonies of Healing

Words are inadequate to express my...

From the December 1951 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Words are inadequate to express my gratitude for Christian Science, for what it has done for me and mine and for what it is doing for the whole world. I am giving this testimony with the sincere desire that it may help others to have the courage to rely upon this healing truth, which Mrs. Eddy has so lovingly revealed to us in Science and Health, and to have the joy, peace, and freedom that have been mine through an understanding of this truth.

Christian Science came to me when I was in the valley of the shadow, after years of intense suffering from tubercular peritonitis and other supposedly incurable diseases. The last two and a half years of that period I was unable to sit up or move about on the bed, helpless and hopeless. Physicians and specialists during this time had been very kind and faithful in caring for me, but finally acknowledged that they could do no more except to relieve my suffering; they said that it was impossible for me to live.

It was at this time that Christian Science was mentioned to my husband by a traveling salesman and we were advised to try it. Christian Science was unknown in the small midwestern town where we were then living, and until then we had never heard of a Christian Science practitioner. However, as all else had failed, we decided to try this Science; so my husband sent word at once to a practitioner for help, and work was begun.
