Christian Science, has brought a complete change in my thinking after fifty years of orthodox religions affiliation and dependence on materia medica.
About eight years ago a heart specialist diagnosed my physical problem as valvular heart leakage. Medicine was given and rest prescribed for a period of thirty-three days. For about two years thereafter I lived a fairly normal life; then the ailment again became aggravated and muscular weakness overtook me.
My wife had been passively interested in Christian Science, but I had resisted her suggestion that we attend the local church. She had borrowed a copy of the textbook. "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, from the Christian Science Reading Room, and after I had read a little beyond the chapter on Prayer, I was prepared spiritually to receive this Science. The following arresting statement, found on page 142 of the textbook, was an inspiration to me: "If Mind was first and self-existent, then Mind, not matter, must have been the first medicine. God being All-in-all, He made medicine; but that medicine was Mind." I abandoned material medicine and began in earnest the study of Christian Science. The heart condition soon disappeared. I have since been accepted as a licensed aviation pilot, proving the completeness of the healing.
