"Hold thought steadfastly to the enduring, the good, and the true, and you will bring these into your experience proportionably to their occupancy of your thoughts," states Mrs. Eddy in Science and Health (p. 261). These words of promise were a wonderful comfort to me during many hours in which I struggled to see the truth of being.
When Christian Science first came to my attention, I thought it was impractical and thus did not look into it further. However, two years later, when my son was stricken with epilepsy, I was indeed glad to find hope and comfort in this wonderful way of Life, Truth, and Love. I did not find Christian Science easy to understand at first, but I spent many hours studying and striving to realize the truth of what Mrs. Eddy has written. The arresting statement in Psalms (46:10), "Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth," sustained me during these months. Gradually the child improved, and the spells became less frequent until at the end of three years they vanished completely, never to return. This happened twelve years ago, and the child referred to is now a young man expressing good health and is himself a student of Christian Science.
I am indeed grateful for the loving, consecrated practitioners and devoted friends whose unselfish efforts in behalf of my family and myself during these early years in Christian Science were very helpful.
