I first heard of Christian Science through a young man, well known to our family, whose mother had been healed of cancer. This introduction seemed to prepare my thought to accept Christian Science when it was presented to me later.
Since that time I have experienced many healings. An outstanding one occurred while I was serving as Second Reader in our branch church. I was suffering from a painful condition of the face, and there was quite a sense of fear of not being able to be in my place on Sunday. It seemed right at the time to work out the problem through my own understanding of Truth.
One evening when the pain seemed very severe, I decided I would not go to bed that night until the difficulty was met. After reading from the Bible and from "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, I took up a copy of the Christian Science Sentinel and was greatly inspired by one of the editorials. I saw how the truths pointed out in this article could be applied in this case, and I endeavored to apply them, continuing to do so until the truth concerning God and man became very clear to me. I then retired and awakened the next morning entirely free and able to take my place on the platform on Sunday morning.
