Poems

Holy Ground

From the September 1951 issue of The Christian Science Journal

How shall my heart continue to rejoice
Upon this battlefield of hate and fear?
The noise of conflict drowns the still small voice
That hitherto has whispered, "God is here."

Lift up your eyes, dear child, and you will see
The angels of His presence all around;
Then as the smoke of battle clears away
You'll find that where you stand is holy ground.
