"The word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword" (Hebr. 4:12). These words have been proved true in my experience many times since Christian Science was presented to me by a sister over thirty years ago. At that time I had become very dissatisfied with the teachings of the church of which I was a member. It was difficult for me to understand how God could send so many trials to His children. I began reading "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy out of curiosity; but by the time I had read the first chapter, on Prayer, I knew I had found the religion I had been looking for, a religion in which God is proved to be Love. At that time I was suffering from the aftereffects of an operation for gallstones. Soon after beginning the study of Christian Science I found myself well.
It seems there is no phase of my living that has not been touched by this beautiful truth. When I have relied completely on divine Love, my needs have always been met, and I have seen many inharmonious conditions disappear through the powerful Word of God.
One healing for which I am very grateful occurred about a year ago. I was employed in a business in which it was necessary for me to stand while working. This, together with keeping up my home, seemed to place me under a sense of strain, which caused extreme nervousness. I resigned my position, but instead of this solving the problem, the strain and nervousness increased. Then I saw that my problem was not physical but mental. A pain started in the back of my neck and spine. From there it spread over my body until I was almost helpless.
