The first time I read Science and Health by our Leader, Mrs. Eddy, I was healed of a sick headache. I was about to take some tablets, but remembered that Christian Science was said to be a religion which heals. As I paused, asking God for guidance, these words from Matthew (6:33) came to me, "Seek ye first the kingdom of God;" and I said, "Yes, I will." I took up Science and Health, and before I had read halfway through the first chapter the headache had disappeared. That was twenty-three years ago, and never once since that time have I felt tempted to use material medicine in any form or to turn from Christian Science for help.
My husband had passed on less than a year before this experience, and I had found it necessary to place my infant son with relatives who lived in another state. Shortly after I turned to Christian Science a beneficial transfer in business was effected, and in little more than a year a new position in another line opened up to me. For twenty years this work has been most pleasant and truly appreciated.
When my son reached kindergarten age he was restored to me. He attended the Christian Science Sunday School until he was twenty years of age, and when he was fourteen he became a member of The Mother Church. Through the demonstration of God's loving care he was privileged to attend college, where he served in a Christian Science Organization.
