OUR OBJECTIVE

From the May 1952 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Our loving Father-Mother God gives to His children health, abundance, happiness. And is it not the purpose of all of us to attain these objectives? Christian Science shows us how to use the power of God to bring them into our lives.

Jesus said (Matt. 6:33), "Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." Then the kingdom of God, heaven, is our supreme objective, which includes all lesser objectives. The government of Love could not tolerate anything that would interfere with health, abundance, and happiness. Would not these objectives, then, be attained by each one of us if he should accept the government of divine Principle, the one all-intelligent Mind, in every thought, word, and act?

It is ordinarily accepted that health, success, and happiness depend largely upon one's mental attitude. A successful athlete must desire the necessary health and skill sufficiently to train and practice. In the business world abundance in production, in sales, in profits, depends upon the legitimate desires of those who are responsible for the business. Unless one is intelligent in seeking happiness, he may find that his efforts leave him with nothing but frustration and disappointment. The foundation of success, then, is the recognition of what one's true objectives are and an understanding of how to obtain them.
