THE DIVINE IDEA OF SONSHIP

From the November 1953 issue of The Christian Science Journal

The Christ as understood in Christian Science is an all-important subject. Indeed, it is a leading point in the theology of our Science. For this reason, students recognize the value of a frequent review and amplification of their own understanding of the various facets that the Christ presents. Its meaning and its application to the needs of the individual student continue to unfold in proportion to his spiritual growth. He becomes joyously conscious that the more he knows of Christ, the more certainly he is discovering the nature of God and therefore of man, God's spiritual idea.

Although the coming of Jesus was prophesied, nevertheless he did not appear until something occurred in the thought of that time which would permit his coming. So in our day Christian Science, the promised Comforter, could not and did not appear until human consciousness was sufficiently permeated with good to permit its appearance and acceptance.

The Bible declares that there is no other name but Christ given among men whereby we may be saved. Jesus was the highest human expression of the Christ; therefore what Jesus represented, his divine understanding, had to be visibly evidenced in order that men might be redeemed and healed. And truly there is no other name or way but Christ whereby we may be saved today.
