We worship a God of beauty and perfection. We adore Him as omnipresent Love and bow down to Him as omnipotent Principle. We seek longingly for the vision of Soul, that we may demonstrate man's completeness. This being our attitude toward God, it is plain that the last thing which we would want to do would be to dishonor Him.
Christian Science honors God supremely, acknowledging His power over all the ills of the flesh as well as over the sins. It teaches the same complete surrender to God that Christ Jesus did. Mary Baker Eddy says in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 228): "There is no power apart from God. Omnipotence has all-power, and to acknowledge any other power is to dishonor God." Who would want to dishonor God? Certainly no follower of the Master, whose life was spent in honoring and glorifying Him. In one of his beautiful prayers he said (John 17:1), "Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee." He acknowledged that God was the source of glory, which was his by reflection and not as a personal, separate possession. Christian Scientists also honor God as the source of all life, harmony, and well-being. Their attitude is well described in one of the hymns in the Christian Science Hymnal (No. 134):
I look to Thee in every need,
And never look in vain;
I feel Thy touch, eternal Love,
And all is well again:
The thought of Thee is mightier far
Than sin and pain and sorrow are.
