Although I have given testimonies at Wednesday evening meetings in Churches of Christ, Scientist, my written expression of gratitude is long overdue. I have had many healings through Christian Science. To save space I shall mention only two.
Shortly after I had taken up the study of this practical religion, there arose in the city where we then lived an epidemic of a severe kind of influenza, in which hundreds of fatalities occurred. One Monday night my husband came home very ill. As he was not interested in Christian Science, he took some medicine and went to bed. The next morning he asked that a doctor be called, and this was done. Some more medicine was prescribed and taken, but the condition did not improve.
On Wednesday night, after the testimony meeting, I asked a practitioner to come to our home. When I told him that my husband had a doctor he said that he could not come, as to do so would make a "house divided against itself' (Matt. 12:25). Then I asked him to come and help me overcome my fear. He agreed to come the next evening. On Thursday my husband became worse and had hallucinations. The practitioner came that evening, and after we had talked for half an hour, I felt completely fearless. We both went into my husband's room, and the practitioner said a few friendly words; then he left. I took Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy and sat down at my husband's bedside, where I read aloud from the chapter on Fruitage. After a while he wanted his temperature taken. It had begun to fall. Since there was no objection, I continued to read. No more medicine was taken after I began reading, but from time to time he wanted his temperature taken. In two hours it was normal. The next day my husband was up and dressed, and the following Monday he went back to his business entirely well.
