Because I have been helped so many times by the testimonies in the Christian Science periodicals, I want to express in a published testimony my love and appreciation for the teachings of Christian Science. From the time I gained even a little understanding of it, this Science has been my daily help, and through it I have been able to help members of my family.
The healing which most encouraged me to pursue my study of Christian Science was that of my sister's child, who was healed of cancer after he had been given up by the physicians. This seven-year-old boy had become so weak and emaciated that I could scarcely bear to look at him. After the physicians had sent him home from the hospital with the verdict that he had but a short time to live, I asked my sister if I might take him home with me and have Christian Science help for him. She consented, and treatment was given by a classtaught student of Science. The healing which followed was complete, and it has been permanent. Today he is a young man with a happy family of his own.
This remarkable healing gave me the assurance and proof that I needed, and I shall always be grateful to the practitioner who so lovingly helped the boy during that time. Since then I have applied the truth in many instances, including once when I was severely burned. My sister and I had gone to visit my father, who lived in the country. We had prepared dinner, and just as the meal was ready I lifted a kettle of boiling water from the stove. The bail came off one side, tilting the kettle so that the water spilled over me from the waist down, I declared the truth the best I knew how and realized that Love would take care of me. In just a few minutes I was able to join the family at the table and enjoy my dinner. My sister wondered how this was possible, stating that she knew I had been badly burned. I was most grateful to assure her that I was all right and free from pain.
