From the December 1953 issue of The Christian Science Journal

It is with a deep sense of gratitude for Christian Science that I write this testimony. In 1910 I moved to a western city to make my permanent home, and I became very friendly with some Christian Scientists. Their daily and their reliance on God were a revelation to me. I knew that they had something I needed and wanted, and I was ready to accept what they had to give. Attending their church regularly, I had no desire to return to the orthodox church of which I had been an active member.

I was healed of fatigue, sick headaches, stomach trouble, constant colds, chronic constipation, and a back injury. Not one of these difficulties has ever returned. Since those first healings I have never taken medicine of any description. Many thanks are due to the practitioner and others who have stood by when called upon for help. I have always been grateful that my husband accepted Christian Science at the same time that I did. Our daughter was quickly healed of various diseases without material aid.

Mrs. Eddy writes in Science and Health (p. 340): "The First Commandment is my favorite text. It demonstrates Christian Science." For some time my husband and I had idolized our daughter, unconsciously worshiping a false god. This caused discord and misunderstandings in our home. One day I was planting flowers in our garden. When I had finished, there was no place for a cosmos plant that was left. Instead of discarding it, I planted it in hard, uncultivated earth. After watering the plant once, I completely forgot it.
