Christian Science, as revealed by Mary Baker Eddy, teaches that the divine Mind heals. It teaches that healing is always mental and that it occurs in the degree that we let go of the belief in a mind or power apart from God and acknowledge that divine Mind, or Principle, is unopposed, is indeed All-in-all. Since God is All, there is actually nothing to resist Truth and its action. But to demonstrate this we have to yield the human will and mortal striving to God's gracious and loving will and rise to that altitude of Mind where all is harmonious, unchangeable, and eternal.
Mrs. Eddy, in the Preface to "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. xi), makes it very clear that it is the so-called carnal mind, or erroneous human thinking and acting, which brings about discordant conditions and disease. She says, "The physical healing of Christian Science results now, as in Jesus' time, from the operation of divine Principle, before which sin and disease lose their reality in human consciousness and disappear as naturally and as necessarily as darkness gives place to light and sin to reformation." We must never lose sight of the naturalness of divine healing. It is natural for evil to be destroyed, unnatural for it to persist.
Sin, sickness, or any form of evil never existed anywhere except in a suppositional, erroneous material consciousness, for evil is unknown to divine Mind, God. This Mind, divine Principle, or Love, is everywhere expressed in unlimited good, in infinitely loving and wise ways. It is always right where you and I are, for man is God's reflection and has no consciousness or power except that which is of God. Man is divine Mind's, or God's, infinite expression.
