THE SYMMETRY OF BEING

With what gratitude one turns his thought to the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, Mary Baker Eddy. With what gladness one follows in her footsteps as she followed Christ. With what spiritual inspiration one is rewarded when he lives close to her teachings, never swerving from the straight and narrow course she outlines in the Manual of The Mother Church, but recognizing it as the guide for all right action. Following faithfully the rules for demonstrating Christian Science as set forth in her writings, one is daily and hourly gaining clearer glimpses of the truths brought out in our revered Leader's discovery—truths which show that man is wholly symmetrical, spiritually balanced, pure, and good.

And whence comes the authority for this statement regarding man? In the first chapter of Genesis it is written, "So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him." What further authority is needed than this? Surely a God capable of creating the wonders of man and the universe could not be less than an infinitely perfect God. He is "of purer eyes than to behold evil," writes Habakkuk (1:13), and cannot "look on iniquity." Perfect God could create nothing less than perfection. This authority was sufficient for Mrs. Eddy, and it is sufficient for us. Through demonstration we see revealed daily and hourly the beauty and symmetry of creation. On page 167 of "Miscellaneous Writings" our inspired Leader says: "The material questions at this age on the reappearing of the infantile thought of God's man, are after the manner of a mother in the flesh, though their answers pertain to the spiritual idea, as in Christian Science:—
